The End of 2021

During the last half of 2021, I’ve been largely absent from my site. It started in mid-July while riding my mountain bike and I fell. While I’d prefer to embellish a story about going over the handlebars while descending a challenging mountainside, the truth is less than exciting. While riding along a flat, paved trail, I had to come to a sudden stop behind my wife who was in front of me. I couldn’t get my right foot out of my SPD pedal. At nearly a standstill, I tipped over and fell on my right shoulder. I didn’t think much about it, but the pain over the coming weeks would not go away. In December I had surgery on my shoulder where they had to drill a hole in my shoulder, feed the shredded bicep muscles into the hole, and anchor them with a titanium screw.

Holding a camera up to my eye has been painful. And using a 4×5 camera has been out of the question. Through the last half of 2021, I did spend time at three car shows, and took two small vacations, but they involved smaller cameras, and a lot of cussing while the throbbing pain shot through my shoulder. Currently I’m doing physical therapy and things are certainly improving. Specific movements still trigger pain, but I’m positive that I’ll be back one hundred percent by this summer. In the meantime, I’ve developed and scanned all the photos I managed to take at the end of 2021.

In 2022, I have several new film cameras, film, and accessories to review: the Hedeco Lime I cold shoe light meter, FPP Frankenstein film, New Classic EZ400 film, Olympus OM2, Olympus OMG, Lomography Lomograflick 4×5 Instant Back, and much more. In the meantime, I’ll be sharing some images from last year that I scanned last week.
